THIS IS OK.
It's okay to have a flare up. It's normal. It's unpredictable and unpreventable sometimes. I haven't done anything wrong. I'm not broken or unhealthy. Clearly something isn't quite working out for me but it's extremely difficult to pinpoint an acne trigger when so many things are going on at once. For some people this isn't a flare up, as someone pointed out to me via message "that's not even a flare up. My skin is worse". This didn't sit right with me because it somehow implied my thoughts about my skin where untrue or invalid? I class this as a flare up for ME. So saying "no it's not" is really quite rude. For some people this may be a lot of acne for some people this is nothing. It's not a comparative or judgemental community. It's certainly not a competitive community of who has it worse. Acne is unique to the individual. Our triggers, our treatment and what our skin responds to. Everyone is entitled to their pain and upset. This is a flare up for MY skin. Everyone's skin is different. I didn't respond to antibiotics but some people do. Differin burnt my skin but it doesn't for some. There is no right way to deal with acne. I've tried a range of routes. I wouldn't say one is better than the other such as medication or not because it depends on YOU and YOUR skin.
So yes, this is MY flare-up for MY skin. It's sore and annoying but I'm not going to let it effect me. I know it won't last forever. I've applied my products so what more is there to do? I could dwell, stare, pick and pop but for what? What does that actually achieve? For me that causes nothing but pain, soreness and negative self talk. I've just done my PM routine so now I just sit back and not let my skin dictate my mood.
Everyone's acne journey is different. Everyone's thoughts and feelings are valid regardless of one spot, mild, moderate or severe acne.
