🍳 MAKE THEM COMPLEMENT 🥓
Too often I see the mistake of brands sharing links in their Instagram captions (that people will not be able to click) or tagging people like @makethemtalkaus, but via Facebook, so the tag doesn't actually work. And it makes me sad.
I get it, it saves time by just reposting to your other accounts. But the time you save by cross-posting isn’t worth losing your audience’s respect and attention. After all, if it looks like you don’t care about what you post on your account, why should they? 🤷♀️
Things like caption length, image sizing, and vocabulary change on each platform. Sharing the exact same post on all of them means you might accidentally end up inviting your followers to retweet you on Facebook, or Pin your post on Instagram. Are you picking up what I'm putting down yet?
You know that guy who tells the same story at every party, and everyone tunes out as soon as he starts talking? That’s how your audience feels when you repeat content in exactly the same way, across every platform.
Don't be that guy ❌
1. Optimise content for each network. E.g using the right sized photos/videos for each platform, using links on Facebook, but saying 'Follow the link in my bio' on Instagram, Not using 100 #'s on Facebook etc.
2. Triple Check everything!
Always take another look before hitting that post button. Ideally, have someone else take that second look for you. A fresh pair of eyes will always catch something you missed. Watch out for typos, broken links and maybe even hashtags you thought meant something else...
3. Use a scheduling tool, that way you can plan your content across different platforms and re-use content the right way 🙌
