I don’t usually like to post about my personal opinion as I like to hear everyone else’s. But I feel like I have to address the comments on my recent post.
It’s absolutely crazy that people still do not understand why we have LGBT communities or gay pride days. Putting it simply, they are not there for “pro gay, let’s all be against straight people!”
I’m sick of hearing “well we don’t get a straight month” or “where’s the straight parade?!”. We are living in the straight parade.
LGBT+ people take their own lives everyday because they don’t feel welcome or normal. If your child, sibling, best friend, parent told you that they were gay, how would you react to it then?
Yes, I know, “we don’t care if they’re gay so that’s why we’re choosing not to celebrate it” or “no one fucking cares”. You’re wrong. Celebrate it! It’s so amazing to have a place to go where everyone is equal.
It would be amazing if we could all realise these days are to appreciate everybody. I’m super proud to have a LGBT friendly family club, and will continue to promote the fact!
