You are not the grade of your prolapse😉. Reposted from @popuplift (@get_regrann) - ME: “I don’t want to be the face of prolapse.”
ALSO ME: 🤷♀️
Stages established by the Baden-Walker Halfway Scoring System or POP-Q are R A N G E S.
A minor shift of less than a quarter of a centimeter might change a person’s stage while an entire centimeter worth of shift (from a different starting point) would not. You could be graded with one stage in the morning and a different stage in the evening.
Staging can be stressful, scary, and downright upsetting. We understand this fully. We believe that the more we talk about this, especially that POP stage does NOT define you, your progress, your function, or your future, the less power we give to POP staging. 🙅♀️
Here’s what a stage *can’t* tell you:
✨The current strength of your pelvic floor
✨The “need” for surgery
✨The type of exercise you can do
✨How successful your rehab has been
✨How symptomatic you are
✨How much resilience you have
✨How likely you are to progress
✨How AWESOME you are
Here’s what staging *can* tell you:
✨The current presentation of your pelvic architecture.
We want to take the fear and confusion out of prolapse staging.
