Good Morning! Hope you’ve all had a lovely restful weekend?
I’m still catching up on reviews🙈...next up is ‘A Good Man’ by Ani Katz. Thank you to @wmheinemann for sending me an early copy of this one.
This is a dark, and very addictive novel, about a family man who is struggling to come to terms with a terrible tragedy. Told entirely from his perspective, Thomas Martin is trying to work out how it all went wrong for him. He seems to have it all, the perfect wife, daughter, home and career. He recalls his story from the beginning, and we watch as everything slowly unfolds.
I absolutely loved this book! Initially I picked it up thinking I would just read a few pages to see if I liked it....and then without realising it, I had devoured it in almost one sitting! This novel is an excellent study into toxicity masculinity and how damaging it can be. I was left questioning our protagonist. Did I believe his version of events? Was he a victim of circumstance, or just a monster in disguise?
A perfectly paced, suspenseful, domestic noir - highly recommend.
