My go to for warming up before bench has been face pulls lately! . Getting a pump in your back/rear delts will provide better stability on the bench and allow for more drive during the press. . SLIGHT DECLINE DB BENCH PRESS 🔷The bench press is a staple exercise on everyone's program, and the horizontal press should be trained. It doesn't always have to be in the form of the bench press. However, when you employ the bench press, make sure you use different angles. A popular variation that is often utilized is a slight decline angle with a plate placed underneath a bench. 🔷Using this variation will add nuisance to the lift which will not produce an identical mechanical stress to the chest and shoulder as the flat bench press. Therefore, the risk of an overuse injury will be reduced. Moreover, this decline angle is more shoulder friendly for individuals with achy joints in that region. I programmed 4x5. Have fun! Chest Burnout 🔥 . This is one of my all time favorites for an end of my workout. . Some days at the gym I feel great and want to throw a little extra something in my workouts. My go to exercises are always body weight exercises. . Why?.... well for me I don’t need to add a ton of weight or do anything fancy at the end of my workout. I just want to get moving a bit and get some blood flowing. . I want to be clear that getting a big pump or feeling incredibly sore does not mean you’ve had a good workout nor is it the purpose of what I stated above. . Today was a great example. I had a great workout. Everything went really well. I had a few more minutes to throw a little something extra to end the workout. . For chest, I love using these band push ups. Just a little resistance can go a long way. 2 sets to failure and I’m good to go 💪. . Push-Up Knee-UPs. This one requires a bit of specialized equipment (a hand-slider rig and a skateboard) but really hits the chest nicely. . The hand sliders allow you to bring the hands inwards as you push up, which increases the contraction on the pecs very effectively. . The addition of the skateboard (or a dolly would work) allows you to bring the knees up towards your chest, which does two things... . 1. As you bring the knees up, you put more of your bodyweight onto your pecs vs the plank position of a regular push-up. This increases the load right as you're increasing the contraction. . 2. You bring the abs in with the knee-up, which doesn't do anything for the chest but does increase the overall muscle mass worked and makes this a great "beach muscle" exercise. . Clearly, not everybody has a hand slider thing like this but you could absolutely bring in the skateboard/dolly aspect into a regular push-up done on the floor or with your hands set on elevated handles or a bar set in the rack. . International titty day today (everyday is chest day right 😂) . My current training split is push, pull, legs, repeat with 1 rest day per week. Extra volume in my training leads to a greater training stimulus and forcing the body to adapt to change . Because we need to keep the strength high during a caloric deficit. Because if you lose the strength on a caloric deficit, you will lose size.⁣ ⁣ Now this workout might be a little towards the advanced side because we're doing 7 sets on bench press with 90% of our max weight, and then doing the floor press at the very end of the workout.⁣ ⁣ The purpose of that is to put a test of strength. How strong are you towards the end of the workout?⁣ ⁣ Apparently I was pretty weak 😂 but I will get stronger! 💪⁣ ⁣ Hope this helps!
