Mekhi Becton is a 6’7, 369 pound left tackle from Louisville.
Pros: great size and arm length, excellent footwork technique and quickness, very good at engaging and punching first, very good athleticism and flexibility for his size, gets good depth in his quick slide, pass protection, has very good strength, shows good ability to sit down and arch when being bull rushed, shows good hip torch when getting underneath pass rushers and play with good balance in his base.
Cons: run blocking, has a tendency to chop block frequently when the play is going away from him and will at time cross his feet against a speed rush leaving him vulnerable across his face.
Summary: Man I can’t help but like this kid Becton, a man 6’7, closing in on 400 pounds shouldn’t move like he does. A man 6’7, closing in on 400 pounds should be able to survive at LT but he can do it very well. Also like his foot speed and balance he plays with, and also his size and arm length makes it tough to disengage with him because he’s so strong and can’t get a reach on him. I did see holes in his run blocking, he takes bad angles to his assignment at time and results in him getting beat and frequently chop blocks when the plays going away from him which can be really costly because it leaves the defender free, taking away a potential cut back lane. All in all the run blocking can be worked on and corrected, I really like Becton as a prospect I think his upside is very high and he has the potential to be the first tackle taken in this years draft. #nfldraft2020 #nfl #nfldraft #draft #football #sports #athlete #footballplayer #collegefootball #espn #sportscenter #nfllive #nflnetwork #sportsnation #highlights #footballhighlights #nflhighlights #sportshighlights #movethesticks #bleacherreport #louisvillecardinals #mekhibecton
